Graphic Design for Better Looking Website

Graphic design can be a boon for your website or curse if done wrongly. Visual pleasure is the strongest asset and quality of any website which makes them a visitor attracting medium. No matter how good your online content and information is useful for the end user, if it is not presented well and have unattractive graphic design, visitors would not devote enough time to see your website and would exit it quickly. Graphic designing is an art it is the designer’s job of combining art with technology for better functionality. A website has only few seconds to impress the site visitor, an image conveys thoughts and can be a substitute for thousands of words too. Therefore graphics on the home page has to be eye-catching and sensible enough to keep the potential customers hooked to your website for long. For better website speed try to stick to graphics of lower resolution, you can have high-resolution graphics if it’s necessary for the website. In case your graphic image is too big, it can be broken down to small modules so that loading is faster. The graphic that is being used should be related to the website and its content and should not look out of place. Not all computers of the target customers are equipped with faster downloading speed and better connectivity, so keep the graphic design simple that can be assessed by simple connection as well. Before designing the final graphic, consider the dimension of the graphic images, and then these images are assigned sizes by specified width and height during the process of tagging. This procedure makes sure that exact position of the graphic image placement is known to the browser. It helps in instantaneous displaying of text along with graphics that is being loaded. So that the site visitors can read the text and see the graphic image simultaneously. Assigning all images description is essential which can be done by alt-tag function for each image separately. This option is extremely useful in times when a visitor is not able to view the graphic image for some reason, here they can at least have a short description about the graphic design. Good content and graphic design go hand-in-hand for website success, putting up images where content is required would not serve the purpose. Well-designed graphic design can form long lasting positive impression on the visitors motivating them to come to your website again and again. The home page is the most important page of your website, so make it attractive and information source giving a gist about what your website is all about.

Web Designing Solutions

Web Design is the art and process of creating a single Web page or entire Web sites and may involve both the aesthetics and the mechanics of a Web site’s operation although primarily it focuses on the look and feel of the Web site – the design elements. The intent of web design is to create a website—a collection of electronic documents and applications that reside on a Web server/servers. The website may include text, images, sounds and other content, and may be interactive. Web design is a form of electronic publishing.

Basic aspects of Web Design

The content: The substance and information on the site should be relevant to the site and should target the area of the public that the website is concerned with.
The usability: The site should be user-friendly, with the interface and navigation simple and reliable.
The appearance: The graphics and text should include a single style that flows throughout, to show consistency. The style should be professional, appealing and relevant.
The structure: The structure of the web site as a whole.
Static versus dynamic web pages
Static web pages Static web pages don’t change content or layout with every request to the web server. They change only when a web author manually updates them with a text editor or web editing tool like Adobe Dreamweaver. The vast majority of web sites use static pages, and the technique is highly cost-effective for publishing web information that doesn’t change substantially over months or even years.
Dynamic web pages Dynamic web pages can adapt their content or appearance depending on the user’s interactions, changes in data supplied by an application, or as an evolution over time, as on a news web site. Dynamic web pages offer enormous flexibility, but the process of delivering a uniquely assembled mix of content with every page request requires a rapid, high-end web server, and even the most capable server can bog down under many requests for dynamic web pages in a short time.
Steps to Design a Website
1)    Before beginning to create a website, we should take care about our audience and purpose for designing the site.
2)    A template, which is a pattern or guide used in the construction of the website, can either be found in a published source or modeled off an idea borrowed from another designer.
3)      Maintain a simple and consistent layout throughout the site.
4)    The pages should be arranged them logically, by importance and by topic.
5)    We should write according to the audience we serve.
6)    To make our text easier to read, break it into smaller sections, using subheadings and appropriate spacing to separate each the sections.

7) Avoid filling the homepage with too much information; instead, provide only crucial information and links to other sections here.

How to determine what type of website you need

The vast array of options one has for setting up a website can add confusion to the process. One way to begin considering the options is to decide if your needs are simple or complex:

*Simple: If your business is not web-based and you merely want a place on the web, there are many off-the-shelf, even free, products and services that may be all you need.

*Less simple: If you are going to be selling products online and need to set up an e-commerce site, there are inexpensive and easy-to-set up products and services.

*Complex: If your site is going to the basis of an online business, then developing it may involve a great deal of time and resources to create and launch.

*Very complex: If your site is going to contain vast amounts of content and data used in a specialized way, it will also require custom development to create and launch.

Most people are willing to spend large amounts on acquiring SEO tools, yet they overlook the most obvious tool, which does not cost them an extra cent beyond what they are prepared to spend anyway on developing their website. The name of that magic tool is – content.

If you have paid adequate attention to good content, it compliments your SEO development efforts and gives you great platform to start your business. Many early entrepreneurs make the mistake of concentrating only on the look and feel of their website and do not pay adequate attention to what it contains. This is obviously to the detriment of the very thing they seek to achieve – good search engine rankings and good traffic density.

When you seek to use copywriting as an SEO tool, a few issues must be borne in mind. Your content must be very well delivered. It is absolutely essential that you get it written professionally. A professional copywriter knows how to deliver well researched content and he does the job in time. Both attributes are essential. Only when your visitors find matter of value on your site, will they return.

The next advantage of copywriting is proper keyword usage. People and search engines are both vary of keyword stuffing. Those days when you could repeat your keywords a thousand times in a page and get rated higher are long over. Search engines are much smarter. Over use of keywords is one of the simplest ways to get poor ratings. A good SEO tool will ensure this does not happen. A good copywriter will take you one step ahead. He will be able to blend your keywords in your text in such a manner that the placing will be natural and the keyword density will be just right.

As you develop your website, you may well get overwhelmed with the material required. While you may be very good technically, you will still need to write about many other things that affect your product and maybe you need to produce a number of whitepapers and status reports. All of these are essential to establish a good web presence and they affect your business. This is something that an SEO tool can never achieve, but a good copywriter can handle with ease.

In the final analysis, while you may need to use an SEO tool at some point in time, you cannot hope to establish a good site without using professional copywriting. Just as you would hire an accountant to deal with your taxes and accounts, you need to use an established copywriter to handle your web content. The copywriter is the first SEO tool you must employ.

Making Your Relationship between You and Your Web Designer a Joyful Experience

Is it really possible to hire a web designer and manage to go all the way from the start of your website to the very end with out a moment of frustration and disappointment? I think it is! It is a matter of knowing how to explain your needs to your web designer and also allowing him to advice you what the best options are for you.

So let’s start by asking ourselves what a web designer needs from you;

It is good to start by informing your web designer of the business you are conducting. Giving him a brief description of what you do should be more than enough. It will help if you provide your web designer with links to your competitors. Let him know what you like and dislike of your competitor’s website.  Once you have shown your web designer links to your competitor’s websites, it will be a good idea to show him other links to websites you like. Let him know about your color preferences, layout and graphics you would like your website to have. Provide your web designer with the content for your website in an organized manner. The best way to give your content to your web designer is in a word format or text format and you should actually use a word file per page in you future website. Let say that you have 3 pages; Home, about us, and our mission then you should have separated files for each page. In addition to that you should include a separated file called instructions. You will use this file to explain the web designer how to proceed with the content you have given him. Give your web designer THE FREEDOM TO DESIGN! One of the major catastrophes in web design is when the client thinks he can design a website. Firs of all; web designers are not the same as graphic designers. There are many variables to consider when you design for the web. Designing a website is not the same as designing a paper flyer.
Allow your web designer to design, he knows better than you. The one thing you can do is to let him know if you like what he is doing or not, and make suggestions but always listen to what he has to say. A good web designer will confront you and your ideas if you are going in the wrong direction. There are several stages when designing a website; the first one is creating a mock up. Your web designer will create a sample template of your website to illustrate the layout, colors, and the position of all those objects that will make your website com alive.

This first stage is crucial. You need to be very positive that you like the mock up before you give the ok to start designing your website. The reason is very simple; a mock up is nothing more than an illustration. What comes after that stage is the real deal; converting the template into a fully functional website. Trust me when I tell you that you do not want to tell your web designer to change the color of the back ground once you have approved the mock up. Your web designer will most probably get a tantrum and after that he will have to charge you an additional fee for extra labor. One final issue which is major and contributes to the patience of a web designer is the grammar of your content. Web designers are not secretaries. A web designer will gather together all the information you have given him for your website and he will make this work on the web. If today you give your web designer the text that belongs to the about us page, but tomorrow you change your mind and you send him again new text for the about us page he will not be very happy.

I have been designing websites for a long time now and these are real facts that occur to me as well as to many web designers out there every day. You can have a web designer create a great website for you, but you need to know that everything that relates to the web takes a long time to accomplish so the more you help us the better your website will be designed.
